Like the end game ends up "oh you say we should love our enemies because you're christian but why arent you proposing we kill witches like exodus says huh huh explain that" which seems really unhelpful to eusocial discourse let people define their own beliefs and move on

No, I moreover mean in situations where it's like, something essential to the faith, or if they constantly use their faith to justify shitty actions.
-
"[PROPOSAL FOR VIOLENT ACT OF GOVERNMENT/WAR]"/"Damned dogs deserve to have their family separated." "What happened to live by the sword, die by the sword/'love thy neighbor?'"
-
Esp. if they justify it with religious reasons.

Why not just condemn the policy as inhumane on its mm objective or universal/unconditional merits? "You're a hypocrite" maybe seems like weak argumentation in a political sphere I guess
-
Primarily, because I don't think a call out against someone being hypocritical in their practice of faith has been done in a presidential debate yet, and none of them seem to have any *real* remorse when called out for inhumane decisions otherwise. Fair, though.

Within the faith(s) how people interpret their religion probably has more to do with culture and their personalities than the religion or sacred text itself. A major religion has something for everyone. Emphases vary.
