Imagine trying to explain who eats more of what at a buffet without reference to varying tastes. You’d be stuck coming up with just so stories based on nutritional needs or maybe social oppression.

There are still some opportunities to compare, eg catered buffet at academic conferences. You could also analyze who eats what at google cafeterias. This will miss the lower classes but get a variety of middles and uppers
