smh theyre appropriating from continental nobles if u cant trace your nobility to the merovingians gtfo
If you accept my family's slightly dubious claim that my dad is the rightful Lord of Bolton but we were usurped five generations ago, I actually probably can. Certainly our claimed ancestry is traceable back to the Norman Conquest.
Interesting! I mean first of all smh filthy Normans but also I wonder if you could settle that with genotyping Could definitely handle a patrilineal case although I'm not sure it would resolve issues around age of heirs
Alas that's the issue. Our claim IIRC is that the official firstborn son was the illegitimate result of an affair with a domestic servant, and they doctored the records to make the kid appear legitimate.
Complicated further by the legitimate firstborn, my 3x great-grandad, storming off and changing his surname, as a nod to his heritage, to "son of a peer" or "Pearson".
awwwwwww, frigg yeah that's worst case, unless there's a clear matrilineal line on each side no dice probably :/
