    Since 2017 Alberta heavily invested in new *treatment, prevention AND harm reduction* programs. Now in 2019, OD deaths are steadily declining. Cutting effective interventions could undo this progress and put more lives at risk [thread]

    Over 14,000 people have died of overdose since 2016. It is a massive failure of our healthcare & public health systems that we lack stable funding for these lifesaving, evidence-based services. Instead, funding is based on the political ideology of provincial ministers of health

    In related news: a supervised injection site in Saskatoon has passed all the regulatory hurdles & received exemption from Health Canada to legally operate. However, they have not yet received funding from the Saskatchewan provincial Ministry of Health to allow them to open.

    This highlights the urgent need to protect . My daughter has reversed countless overdoses inside the SCS. There is always a paramedic & a team to respond, oxygen, light & a clean environment. Here she was in the dark, on a wet sidewalk & only by chance had a nurse helping.

    My amazing daughter saved the life of a young man on her way home after working a 12 hour shift at the in . Took 3 doses of Naloxone & CPR. Thankfully a nurse who was driving by stoped and took over calls to 911. Harm reduction workers are my heroes.
