This last, yes and yes, OP pic is asinine—we can’t reach RW activists. Homeboy never has either: 100% disingenuous but its also true that some non-liberals can be easier to reach than committed Dems. Ppl’s politics are all over the map, and many alienated by /1
liberal hypocrisy can be moved to a Left critique: it’s wrong to view as a linear progression. I’ve organized mutual aid and fought RWs alongside liberals but also with some who’ve never voted Dem and may never. Especially /2
I feel like there may be a remote possibility of reaching some liberals
Mostly agreed, but leftists using democrat as an adjective strikes me as some kind of problematic that I can't quite put my finger on, maybe a populism-before-leftofcentrism statement or something. FWIW my own personal editorial policy is only ever using democrat as a noun.
Actually, the fact that the Dem party debates WITHIN the party tells me that they have MUCH more fluidity of thought & can call BS on each other a LOT quicker than Repubs. I've never seen a group go AGAINST every principle they claim to be about, just to appease ONE man.
A lot of liberals, despite wanting things far to the left of most elected dems, think the party is “on their side.”
This seems to be the main issue. You can't actually group people into 2 groups. The liberals you are referencing are not necessarily the liberals they are referring to.
I imagine a bigger indicator is whether or not someone believes the systems we live in are okay. Do they see systemic problems and want systemic answers? Do they do direct action?
I'm sorry to tell you this, but quite a few of the "leftists" pushing this narrative....well, let's just say that there are advantages to Internet anonymity.
Triangle Theory: The political spectrum isn't divided into two camps (Left vs Right). It's divided into three camps (Left, Centre and Right) all with their own unique goals. But there are points of overlap between thempic.twitter.com/0PYrNdRMo4
Stuff at the mid-point of each line represent things those two camps agree on. For instance both Leftists Liberals tend to be pro-choice. Conservatives are anti-choice. Liberals and Conservatives both support some form of capitalism, Leftists are socialists.
