i want to do more things with eev.ee than just write long-form essays but i'm running into sort of a categorization problem

like does anyone actually care about blog categories, considering you can just skim the list of titles and get a pretty good idea

my half-hearted goal is to mostly ditch tumblr and actually use my own webspace for cat photos, drawings, and shorter things

so those would be the categories, alongside "blog" for longer-form stuff current categories are: basically everything is "essay"

@eevee I think mostly not. Per-category RSS feeds might be handy, and some people might say eg 'I want to read anything else on PHP here'. -
@thatcks see, feeds make it extra tricky — what would a person want to read to the exclusion of all else? -
@eevee I have people who read just my feed of 'Python' or 'sysadmin' blog entries. It probably works best for widely disparate categories.

@eevee I don't think it's a problem as long as you define broad tags that you always use at least one of ("PHP", "WebDev", etc.) -
