it’s kind of depressing how many tweets there are about there “not being enough media coverage” of the east Palestine derailment. local news stations in PA and OH have been doing nonstop coverage. there were even four headlines in the New York Times this week

I sadly hate to admit I watch cable news but the amount of coverage on tv in respect to the scale of the disaster pales in comparison to balloon ufo shit as well as the perpetual war mongering. I fear without a body count it doesn’t constitute as breaking news ?

I guess what I’m reacting to/rejecting is the idea that if it’s not getting the 24 hr cable news cycle treatment then it’s not being covered. yes that’s on cnn or whoever but there are more news sources than cnn! (I know you know this)

The people on the ground and nearby this disaster, do not read the NYT for local news.
I can tell you my Mom lives approx 25-30 miles from this tragedy, but did not really know about it until this past Friday.
She is horrified that these people are being sent back to their homes
