Tech companies: “gosh, we still can’t hire any midlevel or senior technical women”
Also tech companies: *still don’t offer childcare*
Tech companies: “no idea why. let’s get a booth at ghc ¯\_(ツ)_/¯”

Exactly why the leave policies MUST be legally mandated, and childcare should be provided by state programs, supported by taxes. If this is not so, the market will reward those firms that don't offer such services.

To believe that for-profit firms would typically provide such services, absent a legal mandate to do so, is to engage in magical thinking. Sure, a very few highly elite firms may choose to do so for employees who are in very highly sought after fields.
-
But, it should be obvious that what might apply to those few firms for those few individuals won't scale for all of, or even a substantial minority of, workers, and thus such non-mandatory schemes are, at their very core, elitist.

Your ideology is oppressive. Maybe you should read some GK Chesterton or something.

Yeah, like Fr. Brown is relevant, right. Perhaps The Man who was Thursday....lite entertainment sure, but it is very strange to consider that we have responsibility to deliver processes that work for the many, not the few.
