Despite it being the topic of today's hearing, Congress has little jurisdiction over occupational licensing, which is determined by states. But there are several other ways Congress can remove barriers to employment. Committee Dems are highlighting policy ideas this morning.

This includes legislation to prevent workplace discrimination, lower child care costs, ensure access to paid leave, and remove barriers to employment for individuals with criminal records. These policies are more relevant to the Committee's work and would improve workers' lives.
