I'd agree, but then remind you that process and culture are made by individuals. It's another "system" to substitute for the importance of the individual's own sense of responsibility...for their role in a collective process, writing, inspecting and maintaining a codebase.

Starts to raise questions about need for licensing for software engineering in CIs. There are a great many standards for specifying safety but problem, I think, is ensuring compliance.

And at the moment, raising the standard is prohibitively expensive. Both in process terms (safety cases are expensive) and in terms of the personnel available (can "normal" people do it?). Which is where we come in.
