I haven't replaced my lights with smart lights. I have old-fashioned lights with switches. I can turn them on and off 100% of the time, they don't spy on me and have no firmware to upgrade - they boot instantly are cheap and sold in all the local stores - strange but true.

A couple of years ago the fancy motion sensors for lights in our department got replaced with switches. That's when they miraculously started working.
