Oh dear, I looked on /r/programming and learned that 76 seconds is a really long time for a compiler to build itself, and that I should write posts with them in mind... well that's me told!

Jonathan Blow is a game developer ("The Witness", etc.) who is also developing his own programming language and its compiler. He is after sub-second compile times for the compiler and his game projects. (See https://www.youtube.com/user/jblow888/videos …, for example)

Oh right, I think I've seen some of this before. Fast compile times are definitely important... and I think I'm now at a point where it's not type checking that's necessarily the bottleneck which is a good place to be.
