As a teacher, administrator in Alabama, and now professor of Instructional Leadership at an Alabama university, it is embarrassing this is still on the books... but also embarrassing that this article seems indicate it’s “a thing” we celebrate down here. We don’t.

Agreed. I was schooled for 15 years in Alabama and had no idea Robert E Lee day existed. I did have awareness of (and was educated on) the importance of MLK Day (must have been middle school and high school due to the dates but still!)

Explain that better in your tweet and article instead of dicussing the hypothetical “could be a teacher out there that tries to teach it.” That’s irresponsible and unfair. You’re better than that.
