I don't really keep an eye on followers, but I haven't introduced myself in a while so... Hi! I'm Eduardo and I'm a third year PhD student at UChicago. I focus namely on Seleukid administration and ideology and the changing political situation in the Near East after 188 BCE.
Given the nature of the evidence, I study inscriptions and coins frequently. I really enjoy historiography and examining Graeco-Roman perception of Near Eastern peoples, especially tropes about luxury, gender, and sexuality and their relation to martial and political efficacy.
I also study the reception of Classics in Latin America during the 19th and 20th century typically from a political lens focusing on notions of empire and statehood. I sometimes write about Classics in strategy games and make dumb memes. I post pictures of otters when I'm salty.
I also disdain what periodization and centuries of Alexander and Greek-centered studies have done to the "Hellenistic Period." So if you're a fan of Alexander or "Hellenization," I might not be the person to follow.
Hello :) For some reason I thought you were in the UK. I'm Lauren, a 3rd year PhD candidate at La Trobe University. I work with Greek and South Italian vases, specifically looking at their collection and reception before 1767.
