    In the codebases I worked with static typing provided an additional layer of testing. We have a pretty thorough test suite in , I'm feeding it now to 's MonkeyType to gather typing information for me from runtime. Looks like it recorded some types...

    I decided to postpone my funemployment. I'm joining to work on an open next-generation data store. In my time at I've seen the enormous impact an expressive object database with strong consistency guarantees can have. EdgeDB will enable that for the masses

    Everything in EdgeDB is introspectable: user-defined types, standard library types, functions, and operators, etc. For example, this query introspects two functions: std::count() and std::re_match() and shows their return types and parameters description:

    INSERTs and UPDATEs in EdgeQL can be nested. This is convenient to add/modify deep object hierarchies. Any EdgeQL single statement is always atomic even if it contains nested operations.
