The first time I went to Seoul in 2017 Bong Joon Ho hosted my Q&A and took me on a epic night out in various boozy vinyl record bars. Frankly it’s outrageous he didn’t get an Oscar for that. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

You cannot nuke a hurricane for obvious reasons. The resulting shockwaves could reverberate into space, shatter the Phantom Zone and release galactic criminals into our atmosphere who may then try to invade Earth. I can’t believe this is even a discussion.
10 years ago today #ScottPilgrimVsTheWorld was released. Looking back on this magical voyage, I'm even more grateful to have made a crazy movie with Universal with THIS cast & crew. To thank all the fans this last decade, I give you the epicness of these behind the scenes photos.

Loved 'Parasite', but haven't seen much other Korean cinema? Here's some suggestions to dive into another cinematic world. First up, earlier masterpieces by Bong Joon Ho: Memories Of Murder, The Host, Mother, Snowpiercer (unjustly buried by Weinstein) & Okja.
I'm sad to report that when 'Hot Fuzz' leaves Netflix on August 1st, it will no longer be available in any form. Aside from on VHS, DVD, Blu Ray, HD DVD, Itunes, Amazon and ITV 2 on an hourly basis. (Also 4K edition out soon x)

Only Taika Waititi could make a coming of age film about a Nazi Youth in which he stars as a imaginary Hitler and it somehow be the feel good comedy of the year that every kid should see. Speaking of which, ‘JoJo Rabbit’ also features the best ‘fuck’ in a PG 13 in recent memory.
I love Brussels Sprouts. Mr does not. Last year I said he and would be nominated for Original Screenplay at the 2018 Oscars and that if I was right he had to eat a bowl of sprouts. So last night we celebrated with that classic combo: champagne and sprouts.
The living room set rolls out and the school corridor set is underneath. No green screen at all. If you hear the raw production sound it sounds like the whole earth moving outside the bathroom.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of 's 'SPACED'. To say it changed my universe would be an understatement; I've made friends for life in the cast & crew. So let me to salute the baby Jessica Hynes and Simon Pegg dreamed up with an epic thread of photos from the shoot.
To talk about something other than the Oscars slap, it still sticks in my craw that most winners had far less time than presenters (does everyone need to do banter?). I didn't like seeing Ryusuke Hamaguchi played off three times. And call me old fashioned but... 1/2

Not quite true! We wrote the scene and thought it would be funny to have a famous actress in the part but to never take off the mask. We had heard Cate Blanchett liked 'Shaun Of The Dead' so we asked her. She said yes, shot for a day and gave her fee to charity. An Aussie legend.

I have told this story before, but I was sent a script for an advert years ago that was to be shot ‘in the style of Spaced’, the TV show that I directed every episode of. I lost out to another director and did not get the job of ripping myself off.
Thanks for supporting this film everyone. Not easy to get original studio movies made in this age, so you showing up makes a difference.
Max Von Sydow, such an iconic presence in cinema for seven decades, it seemed like he'd always be with us. He changed the face of international film with Bergman, played Christ, fought the devil, pressed the HOT HAIL button & was Oscar nominated for a silent performance. A god.

‘Shaun Of The Dead’ was released in the UK this weekend in 2004. I couldn’t have dreamed back then how much it would change my life nor that it would become a documentary some 16 years later. Thanks to everyone who went to see it way back when x
