Am I missing something? Why are people so upset about YouTube obscuring live sub counts? How often are people watching them outside of the odd special occasion?

what is the point of doing this????

to stop the sub number fights. Pewdiepie v TSeries livestream. Watching James Charles lose subs. YouTube doesn't think that's healthy

They can't move towards a better platform unless they put themselves 2 foot deeper in the hole

It’s because YouTube hates its consumers and producers and wants to be like cable, except even more vapid and expensive.

They could have at least made it optional

I think the reason they got rid of it is because of all live subscriber count streams and the negativity that comes with it. E.g. Pewdiepie v T-Series or when everyone was unsubbing James Charles to see his count drop lower. YouTube gets a bad rap, but I understand this change

Pewds hits 100mil and they just say, “F@ck it. We don’t need live subs anymore.”

It just feels like an attempt to replicate Instagram’s change to likes. Empty gesture that serves no purpose
