Read a book a while back where a woman insisted on leaving her tea to steep for a full 3 minutes and her dude rolled his eyes and pulled the bag out at only 2 mins, and I must tell you: that dude would no longer be my dude if he fucked with my tea steep.

Today is Book Quote Wednesday! The word is: TANGLE

On this truly stunning the word is 'tangle' and Miss Wychwood has a tale to tell...

Image of cover for the Mangrove Legacy with #bookqw quote for 'tangle' - ‘But I, too, had a desperate plan!’ Her ghostly eyes flashed with unaccustomed fire. ‘There was just one problem—’
‘What was that?’ Alice asked, her bright eyes betraying the eagerness she felt, caught up in Miss Wychwood’s tale. ‘What daring plan had you concocted to avoid that horrifying fate?’
Miss Wychwood looked out the window behind them. Below, the garden was a tangle of overgrown bushes that only hinted at the order which once made it beautiful. ‘I made a desperate vow,’ she said at last after a long sigh. ‘When the nefarious men came for me, I would throw myself out this window to my death!’

Something I love seeing in reviews of is readers picking up on the theme of connection - between humans and the earth, between family. Connecting with your true self and expressing that connection as identity.

It's Book Quote Wednesday, and this week's word is TANGLE - which is just so appropriate for A Tangle of Magicks (out now in its beautiful new 10-year-anniversary edition)!

My foot slipped, and I fell head-down under the surface
of the Bath.

Hot, sulphurous water flooded my nose and mouth. The chanting from above the water echoed through my bones. My feet kicked out, searching for the tiled bottom of the Bath, but they tangled in my own skirts, which were twisted around the bottom of my shoes. I struck out desperately with my arms, struggling to pull myself back up. The water felt thick and resistant. Every inch of my skin sparked painfully with the contact of wild magic. I cursed myself for never learning how to swim...

/ Book Quote Wednesday. The word is 'tangle.' King Donal tries to rally. He's lost a battle. His mistress is scared of him. Extract from "The Sign of the Dragon," epic fantasy with Chinese+Mongolian elements. Nook: Kindle:

On the right hand side is the book cover for "The Sign of the Dragon" by Mary Soon Lee. The top half has the title in red against a white background, and the bottom half has the author's name in white against a red background.

On the left hand side is the following extract from the book:-

"I won't hurt you.
I've hurt men, hurt my enemies,
but I've never hurt a woman.
And when I'm done with you,
if I'm ever done with you"--
he loosed her hair from its braid,
and tangled his fingers in it--
"I'll buy you a small house,
and you can grow old telling tall tales
about King Donal. All right?"

Rose nodded. She couldn't speak.
In all the tales about Donal,
no one had ever warned her
that he could be kind.
