Your quarterly reminder that unless you are a Ferengi from Star Trek, the word "female(s)" is an adjective, not a noun. "Women" is the noun you're looking to use not "females". An adjective is used next to a noun. Ex: I am a female designer. I am a woman. We are not "females".pic.twitter.com/Vrdk5QpoLA

Exactly, "female" used as an adjective not a noun

Is that an adjective? Like “I’ve got 30 females at the pokecenter”

Now I'm just confused in your example. The text is actually a quote from the game verbatim?

If you can replace the word "female" with another noun, then no. You are using the word female in your sentence exactly how I referred to was incorrect: as a noun - when it is an adjective

in spanish, the male/female word equivalents (macho y hembra) are only used for animals. Some times humans but it's quite ibformal/vulgar and as a refference to the animal aspect of humans.

Honest question. I’ve been wondering how to deal with “women’s clinic/health issues/etc” including trans men but excluding trans women. Do you have a suggestion for how to discuss that correctly? I am stymied.

I cannot speak to that experience so I can't speak for other people. I suggest finding folks who can share their knowledge/experience though.

Female has more than one official definition and can be either an adjective or a noun. Let's not spread misinformation which could begin the first steps towards making yet another word begin to become offensive in people's minds.
