#MWE Day 1: Kimiko Kasai - Tokyo Special (1977) I knew I was going to fall in love with this album as soon as I pressed play. There is nothing like the R&B/soul of the 1970s... no matter what language it's in. This album felt very familiar but not in a mundane or repetitive way.

Also: all of these anime movies are from like 2011. I was about to ask “damn, y’all 12 years behind?” but remembered that they weren’t born until 2009

When I was a kid, we would watch the cartoons and play the video games. Now, the kids just go to YouTube to watch anime reviews and other people playing the video games. I don’t understand!!!

And if your city has a certain reputation for its racism, why are you mad at US (Black folk discussing it) rather than the white ppl who perpetuated and continue to perpetuate racism?

Always funny watching ppl try to defend or excuse the racism in their city/state. Racism is racism. Doesn’t matter if you experience it in the form of “blatant” racism, microagressions, voter suppression, institutional racism, or unjust policies that target us as Black folks.

Just heard someone play the acapella of The Isley Brothers’ “Groove With You” over the instrumental of Keith Sweat’s “How Deep Is Your Love”
