    Interesting that one fireworks show was cancelled for safety reasons and the other a few miles away went off after a short delay.

    Reminder that there are TWO firework displays in D.C. tonight: One at Yards Park for , and one at Freedom Plaza for the Emancipation Day concert finale. What to do today (and this weekend):

    The combination of sun, gentle breeze, seafood, and drinks in plastic cups make lunch at feel like a vacation, with a full crowd enjoying the Friday specials (12-4). The fried fish sandwich gets an extra punch from the fistful of lemony greens and pickled shallots.

    I didn't realize there was a cocktail bar and live music venue at L'Enfant Plaza. Well, not anymore. Pop Social is moving to 1140 19th St NW and adding a 20 seat rooftop space according to a liquor license application.

    The 2nd floor izakaya remains an excellent place to eat & drink with a menu of Japanese-inspired food meant for the long list of beer, cocktails, sake, shochu, and non-alcoholic beverages including a very refreshing raspberry limeade. It's easy to find happiness here.
