I can’t. I’ve never liked Doctor Who. I don’t get it either.

I do know that if you call The Doctor “Doctor Who” or “Dr. Who” online you’ll get crucified for being an imbecile who doesn’t understand anything at all.
-
I like to think this is the first in a long line of public requests for explanations of UK obsessions. Next up: Earl Grey tea, the Wombles, Punch and Judy...
-
The Wombles are fun and for kids. Not really a national obsession like Doctor Who. Earl Grey tastes good. I don’t get Punch and Judy but I think that’s a dying/dead thing anyway.
-
Heh - agree on all counts - it's my pro-Womble agenda showing through again! Not a patch on the Moomins though.

I watched Doctor Who from its very start (‘63 - I was six!). The Daleks showed up a month later and I moved to watch from behind couch (it was scary); but I was hooked! In ‘66 cybermen show up. Massive playground discussions ensued! I still watch Doctor Who!

Oh ... and managed to get a real black Dalek, when I was at university, complete with voice box! It’s funny the things you can pick up in Whitstable.
