Being a YouTuber for like ~10yrs, I’ve noticed that most my contacts at game companies (community managers, PR people, etc) seem to move around A LOT. Like spend ~2 years at one company, then on to the next. Any insight as to why this happens so often?
Games pay low. You usually get stuck in your position unless you move - so if you're seeking new opportunities you have to be bullish depending on where you are.

Not all positions have low pay - but a lot of them do. And sometimes a move cross company is where you can find that big pay bump compared to other non-games tech jobs where opportunities come more frequently from your current employer. Also folks wanna work on other games :)

It's completely true but also very sad. I work in the industry and I hate it so much that most big companies have the "you should feel lucky to work in gaming" mentality. It's disgusting.
