Any sort of entertainment award is just straight up bullshit and needs to not be respected in my opinion. “Bests” and awards should be reserved for designated competitions. Taking movie, game, music, etc production to a competitive level diminishes the value of objective art.
I have this same stance for 30 under 30 lists etc. The more we move towards glorifying false competition of self worth - the more we are creating a false sense of failure in thousands of hard working individuals who just don’t have social platforms.
And there’s nothing wrong with allowing people to feel proud of something powerful they created. I just hate the way we as creators and consumers have accepted that awards and reviews dictate the subjective strengths of arts and entertainment.
