Secondary thought after reading through the comments: if the plan is to prioritize innovation it should be coupled with a willingness to fix problems quickly as they arise (like banning the entire companion mechanic rather than individual cards in non-Standard formats).
I’d be in favor of cards getting previewed earlier, closed alpha digital testing with no NDA for pros and streamers (to generate community feedback), balance the cards, then send them to print. this is a wild fever dream idea though
