Starting mid October, I had this personal rennaisance and began really pulling into all the things I love. For years I kind of pushed it away or wouldn’t let myself dive in completely. It sounds so dumb but years of torment while I was a kid about what I enjoyed made me hide me.
There are entirely greater problems people face. Don’t get me wrong- don’t want to feel self glorifying. It just feels good to let myself be obsessed with games and movies and books again. I feel like I can talk about my love of Magic and Warcraft without criticism.
I can play Dungeons and Dragons on a Friday night and not hide it from my friends. I can spend hours watching videos about my favorite stuff without feeling guilty. Yada yada yada. I just felt like I was blocked from being excited about the nerd stuff I love.
I have ALWAYS wanted to fully pursue something creative leaning into my hobbies and I’m doing that again and it feels amazing. It feels good to not care about criticism... or just not even face it. I’m privileged to even have this as a personal problem but I’m happy I am past it.
