A politically successful bill wouldn't have resulted in Trump and repeal. A practically successful one would have helped far more people.
By either measure, at most Obamacare has been an incredibly mixed success with many caveats. I prefer "failure" but Dems gonna Dem.

Its success may be seen in hindsight, if Obamacare is recognized as a stepping stone we needed to build a consensus around medicare for all.

I hope our political future contains that sort of brightness in it, truly, but right now we're in a struggle for it to have a future at all.
