I've been thinking about that slave owner redemption piece all day. Almost certainly embarrassed myself talking about it on work Slack, too.

For me, the core of my reaction is twofold. 1) Alex Tizon, his beautiful writing, his Pullitzer, all compromised. Scrub him from history.
Take anything he left, give it to the family of the woman whose life he stole to have it. Defile his grave.

It's not morally complicated, what the enslavers and oppressors owe the enslaved and oppressed. It's practically & politically complicated.
