What ppl either forget or don't know about the Democratic Party is they've been the dominant political force since, basically, our founding.

No more, no less. And it has been this way since the earliest days of our nation. So by all means, work with Dems. Vote for them.
But do not cast them as the good guys or the morally centered guys the champions of the little guys. That's historically naive & inaccurate.
