The reality of political discourse in this country is really making it difficult to enforce profanity rules in online commenting.

might we approach profanity w. more flexibility? (And focus on enforcing rules against hate speech, etc). Not easy question, for me.

Can both be true? "We trust you to be smart & responsible" is more effective than "doing x, y, or z will get you BANNED".

It's tricky bc there's a mix of folks- some need to be instantly banned, some are very trustworthy, a lot in the middle.
