I try to avoid RTing ppl like GG, and I really abhor a 'dunk' so this isn't that... But, there's just such a disconnect btw certain writers who see trans issues as fun theoretical argument games and trans people who see it as a fight for our lives.https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1372553988709683202 …

There are political activists organizing to make trans healthcare a felony. Trans people are massively likely to be impoverished, homeless and unemployed, because ordinary people don't think we're respectable or responsible and discriminate against us.

And, we're caught in a terrible catch-22, because by talking about how desperate things are for us we further cement the opinion of hyper-emotional, unreasonable, shrill activist trans person.

Which means cis writers- often white men- feel even more justified in the opinion that their rational, above it all discussion of our lives and rights is the legitimate discussion, while our pleas to be taken seriously are emotional nonsense that can be ignored.

Not you, Evan, you're one of the "good ones."

If he'd said "trans journalists aren't qualified to cover this except for Evan Urquhart, his work is great" on the actual listserv that would have been great for my career! But what he actually said was fucking BAD for me, personally. Whether he "meant" me or not.

WTF? So being trans is not enough to qualify someone to speak on trans issues. Cishet WM love to be the gatekeepers of knowledge and power.
