An older way of speaking invoked a single dramatic, but permanent, shift (Female to Male). And a candidate for upcoming disruption/replacement would be a focus on fluidity (evolving gender identity, all places along the journey respected). 4/

However, I wrote this thread is bc I think folks can have too much zeal to punish those who aren't resonating with the dominant narrative, whether it's up-and-comers pushing to make their alternative experience known or those who feel comfortable in older narratives. 15/

Some people will always find "born in the wrong body" a perfect metaphor. Some will always resonate with FTM/MTF sex change language. And, I think the challenge is to find ways to allow different narratives to coexist with critiques of dominant narratives' problem areas. 16/16

I alao wonder how much this is also varying experiences overlapping/butting against each other? I am madc, but I have little desire to change my physical except so much as it upsets me that others assume I'm feminine (when I definitely am not a grl/woman/feminine/etc...).

As a result, it ends up "sounding" like we are both trans in a similar way (afab incorrectly), but with very different surface "symptoms." Which speaks to your point of varying narratives.
