Stella O'Malley believes that gender dysphoria is a coping mechanism for ordinary human ennui, like alcoholism or eating disorders (which in my mind is very dismissive of the particularities of both alcoholism and eating disorders). I find it so appalling.

...the "real problem" dysphoria is supposed to be covering up/rooted in, focusing on how well one's body functions/approaching it like a tool so that it's easier to be present in it, all that is stuff detrans women came up with on their own.

It's darkly funny to me, as someone who went through actual eating disorder treatment (like 15 times), that this is exactly the stuff that was tried there, and failed to work bc I had gender dysphoria, not an eating disorder.

I was the only 'girl' at the treatment center that refused yoga days bc the idea of feeling myself in my body was so vomitous I just wouldn't stand for it.
