The overall research on detransition is still quite weak, and I want to give as generous a reading as possible to the criticsms.
So, when I say 1-3%, I'm overweighting studies that show a higher rate, out of caution. 3/

This means I have to do quite a lot of cherry picking, to support my higher, more conservative estimate. Most studies give numbers more like this one, which found 0.4% regret: https://mermaidsuk.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/charing-Cross-study-nhs.pdf … Most studies support a <1% rate of detransition. 4/

That study is only 2016-7, so cannot be used to judge what long term detransition rates are. They even note it in the study as a limitation that it is only a "snapshot".

Every study can be criticized. A rational person will base one's opinions on the evidence we do have- always willing to update that opinion in the light of new evidence.

The evidence is that there have been a large number of referrals, which have been heavily skewed towards girls. This would suggest the need for more caution, not less.https://segm.org/

Given there hasn't been an equivalent increase between both sexes, it would suggest it is not due to social acceptance of an underlying condition, but rather something due to social reasons.

Ah, unless there was a huge skew towards the other sex previously, and FTM transition was far more invisible and unheard of during that period, right?

Ten years ago the numbers of referrals were in their tens, from either sex.

And? I think what you're saying is that your evidence... isn't. You have some numbers, and some theories about why those numbers are what they are, but no evidence for your theories. I have an equally (or perhaps more) explanatory theory.

There was no great skew between males and females, and it would have been in a magnitude of ten. Now the skew is in a thousand. You're quoting a study done in one year at the end of this graph, to suggest detransition is not a concern. I'm saying that's unsafe.pic.twitter.com/23tjr75OIR

2009 is a very arbitrary starting year. Do you have a graph that goes back to 1990 or before? (1999 = release of Boys Don't Cry).
