Also, it’s important to remember that society, especially religious society, has a way of shaming people with alternative sexualities into repression or hiding. It can take years to unpack whatever your basic sexual orientation is.
Strong agree. It's not that there aren't many people who have fixed sexual interests that relate to genitalia and/or sex. It's that in practice it's harder to tell that from cultural conditioning than you'd think.
Should go without saying (ugh I wish this was part of the above so I can't be taken out of context), but: No one should feel forced/pressured to date/have sex w anyone they're not into, for any reason, regardless of whether their disinterest is culturally conditioned or not.
