It feels messed up, however true the point, that this argument is likelier to cut through than the fact of trans peoples' own humanity.
I am keenly aware and, as a pragmatist, fully willing to make the argument that cis people should support trans people purely for their own self interest, however depressing it is to know they likely wouldn't support us otherwise.
