I think we, meaning trans men in particular and the larger transmasculine community to a lesser extent, really need to think and talk about how we view lesbians in general and cis butch lesbians in particular.

Yes. Absolutely. 'Therapy' is fine but having mentors with experience is priceless. Something I did not have, at all.
The closest I got was trans women elders who took pity on me a few times and helped me with my shit in a loving but firm way. It helped, but it would have been so much better if there'd been trans men willing to play that role.

Best help I ever got was some old forum from UK, run by trans women. Hooked me up with every resource, even back here to U.S. The trans men sites were all kids crossing streams, so to speak.
