I think we, meaning trans men in particular and the larger transmasculine community to a lesser extent, really need to think and talk about how we view lesbians in general and cis butch lesbians in particular.

How are they viewed now and what needs to change? Asking from a place of sincere interest and lack of knowledge.

The strongest message is that looking like a lesbian, as a trans man, is a sad failure. It's very gender dysphoria-based. We're trying to look like one thing, we fail and look like something else, so we talk about the something else like it's super embarrassing and lame.

And, this can be changed, as I suggested in the thread, by saying "I failed and just look like a woman in men's clothes" instead of dragging lesbians and their style into things at all.

There's also an oft-discussed problem of overcompensating and misogyny among trans men, but that's an area where I honestly think there's a ton of push back already and the transmasc community is doing as well as it can, so I don't think it's helpful to harp on it more here.

I'd be the opposite of your description. I can't comprehend parroting the misogyny...the very thing that represses you can not become your baseline. I always assume young folks come to grow out of that once they experience the effects. Evolve beyond current social stereotypes.

I became less misogynistic the instant I realized I was a trans man and I could transition. Before that point "woman" was this thing I hated being but could never escape from. I loathed everything about it, and it showed.

As soon as I realized I didn't have to be a woman I just liked women a lot more and didn't have that feeling of anger and resentment at them, that came from them feeling forced to be something I wasn't.
