I do it to transphobes all the time. Reply for the benefit of others reading along, wait a bit so there's a good chance they've seen it, block. I'm not interested in them as people, I'm interested in there being an obvious opposition to their hate.
The time you wait is important, imo. If it's so immediate they have no chance to see and report that feels like an exploit harassers could use, if you give the other person 10 minutes (or something) that seems fair.
