my opinion is that the word is clunky and not ideal, but its also the best one available right now, and the best understood. it gets the point across intuitively and without having to explain the difference between cis misandry (not real) and trans misandry (real)

so is the problem the pride, or the coding? I offer the issue is that it's been coded thus.

It sucks, and has nothing to do with us. But if we're too incautious in proclaiming ourselves as "men not women," that's liable to be what people hear. Since it's toxic bullshit, proud though I am, I'm not interested in amplifying that message even inadvertently.

[nods] I get that, I do. I'm 45 now and I've realized I cannot possibly be responsible for what people hear though. I can be mindful of how I speak, but I cannot control what lens people hear my words through. It sets me up for failure every time.

Hmmm... See this is where some stuff breaks down for me. Where trans men are seemingly criticised for being either traditionally masculine men or being an UwU soft boi. Theres a sort of conflicting "masculinity is toxic" and "softness is feminine" and you can't have either.
