There's a clever little trick behind the outrage over "chestfeeding" as a suggested alternative (not replacement) to breastfeeding, and the reason it works is, once again, say it with me: TRANSMASCULINE INVISIBILITY.

Instead of a "man in a dress" stereotype, these efforts use the "mentally ill woman" stereotype to argue that trans people shouldn't have access to medical care because women are too dumb and easily influenced to make informed decisions with their doctors.

The "mentally ill woman/teen girl" stereotype targets trans men, and not trans women. It's unique to us, and there's no word for it because of transmasc invisibility in the trans community.

We have, though! It's called transadrophobia and a lot of us are talking about it and then being shut down by people telling us that no such thing exists.

I'd never heard that term. It's a mouthful (but then, so's transmisogyny) but it works.
