Explaining to British people that their media is so heavily biased they'll print outright lies as long as they're transphobic is a bit of an uphill climb, but I've got my belay rope and my pitons so let's go.

The story about "chestfeeding" was an outright fabrication. My source is a respected American journalist, who reported it out.

This post by Katelyn Burns (@transscribe) lays out the truth. A hospital wrote about language staff might use with pregnant trans people. It specifically says language for cis women should not change, and cis women would be uncomfortable if it did.https://katelynburns.medium.com/no-that-british-hospital-didnt-ban-the-word-breastfeeding-c0ca19fde8b0 …

But our common sense should have been enough to know the story was false. Trans people aren't advocating to remove breastfeeding from the language. There's no pressure on hospitals to do this absurd thing. No realistic sequence of events could have led a hospital to doing so.

The British people should be FURIOUS at their media for making stories like this up. Even people who aren't huge fans of trans rights should be angry at being misled.

Brits need to start showing a lot more skepticism about the trans outrage story of the week. Because this is ridiculous. There was never a remote chance it was true. To be as polite as possible, if you fell for this you're... not terribly well informed.

"But Evan, it's the sort of thing THEY (those awful trans women) do!" Ask yourself where you got this absurd prejudice. Trans women aren't coming for your breasts, they're growing their own.

As covered in a previous thread, some trans men and nonbinary people feel uncomfortable using highly gendered language to describe their own bodies. Not all of trans men even care, and no trans person wants to change how you describe yours.https://twitter.com/e_urq/status/1360972437467365376 …

          Evan Urquhart added,

They do NOT picture a muscular hairy trans man with a deep voice carrying, giving birth to, and feeding a child, and the incongruity of him having breasts. Of course they don't, bc trans men don't exist in their minds.

sadly, the majority of the British public just doesn't give a damn about trans people (or other marginalised groups)

Agreed, but I believe I can sometimes- not often, but often enough to keep trying- peel the first group away from the second.
