Except that is literally how its been reported internally and externally Evan, its as a replacement. I have no issue with opting for birth parent over mother to be inclusive but given breast feeding is already a gender neutral term it seems bizarre to even go there.

Medium is a tertiary source reliant on opinions and bias, and is a less reliable source than tabloid news makers such as the sun or daily mail which honestly is a cesspit for unreliable news. Not quite the win you were advocating for.
It's not Medium- which has varying quality- it's Katelyn Burns. She's a respected journalist who's between jobs right now, but a known name in the US (and doesn't have the biases your UK media have, so she was able to report out the story).
