I obviously don't know Keira Bell. But I have seen quotes from her that say, in effect, transition doesn't work because it doesn't change one's body enough. Which is... interesting.https://twitter.com/Lux_fae/status/1356689157557530625 …

I also think that, although we've come a long way even since I've transitioned, there's too much emphasis placed on the idea that transition 'makes you happy'. It doesn't. Life is still hard. You (may) still have dysphoria. Living as a trans person is hard.

I see so many young people questioning whether they're 'really trans' because transition hasn't solved all their problems. I can totally see how someone like K Bell would fall victim to that thinking.

It's weird, having transitioned in my thirties. I wish I'd transitioned earlier- my life would undoubtedly have been better and easier overall. But transitioning as an adult doubtless made my transition itself much easier. I had a mature understanding of what I was getting into.

Yes. I transitioned as a 22 yr old, and still wish I'd done it earlier. Haha. But I also know as a younger person, I wasn't ready, and doubt I'd've been able to handle it. As it was, I went into it with eyes wide open - knowing it wouldn't solve all my problems.

Between 18 and 22 would have been an ideal time for me. That's when I was in college, wearing men's clothing, rocking a shaved head. Then I graduated college and told myself it was time to act like an adult, which meant dressing like a ladywoman. A truly terrible mistake.
