If I'd transitioned younger I'd have had no conception of all the pain and difficulty I was avoiding, and a much harder time with the transition itself, so I can imagine it being confusing for me. Maybe even so confusing I'd detrans-retrans.

I socially transitioned in my late teens and started t when I was twenty, which means I never tried living as an adult butch woman before transitioning. A lot of my detransition was about getting to explore that option. I don't regret transitioning young but if I had waited...

Yes. I transitioned as a 22 yr old, and still wish I'd done it earlier. Haha. But I also know as a younger person, I wasn't ready, and doubt I'd've been able to handle it. As it was, I went into it with eyes wide open - knowing it wouldn't solve all my problems.

Between 18 and 22 would have been an ideal time for me. That's when I was in college, wearing men's clothing, rocking a shaved head. Then I graduated college and told myself it was time to act like an adult, which meant dressing like a ladywoman. A truly terrible mistake.
