Understanding V in V for Vendetta as a trans man is such an amazing perspective shift on the character. His sharing Valerie's letter with Evie becomes such a source of character depth.

He can't bring himself to out himself as trans and undermine his male identity.... But Valerie's life and Valerie's experiences are still dear to him. He wants to share them in some way. So he comes up with this letter-sharing pretense, to share that part of himself.

I like to think that Alan Moore won't just come out and say that V is trans, and only drops little hints that V's identity is in the work, because he understand's that it would be a betrayal of his stealth character to pull a JK Rowling and go around outing him after the fact.
