One thing I didn't have space to go into in as much as I'd have liked was the extreme hatred of trans women in the ideologically driven detransitioned women's community. One source thought this was a big driver of newer people leaving the community, out of discomfort.
The highly ideological people in the movement believe trans women are all predators, and that attitude extends even to male detransitoners. They think trans women transition to sexually assault women, and male detransition is often viewed as one more gambit by abusive males.
I found that deeply disturbing, as a foster parent of trans and gender nonconforming youth. The idea that vulnerable AMAB teens- who I know struggle so much with their identity and self-hate- would find the detransition community reflect and amplify that self-hate back.
