Since this seems to be a point of confusion, let's start the day with a brief explanation of how I use terms related to detransition.https://twitter.com/billy_pilgrim85/status/1354056324963827713 …

A re-transitioner would be someone who detransitioned and then transitioned again, again for any reason.

A detransitioned woman is much more specific. This describes a member of a small community of detransitioners who believes that either all trans men or the vast majority of trans men are suffering from internalized misogyny...

...that transition is not an effective treatment for gender dysphoria, that confronting internalized misogyny is, and (usually) that trans women are predatory fetishists and transphobic politics can protect women from both trans women and their own desire to become men.

I use ex-detransitioner to describe a former member of the detransitioned women's community, regardless of whether they have re-transitioned or not. It's admittedly not the clearest possible descriptor, but the alternatives are very long so that's the shorthand I landed on.

The ex-detransitioned women I spoke to for my Slate piece (which I think is scheduled to publish today but I don't have final confirmation) are both currently using she/her pronouns but do identify as trans.

I also know a re-transitioner irl- he's just a binary trans guy who tried to go back to living as a woman for a while, but never had any particular ideology around that.
