I strongly believe transgender people should be able to serve openly in the military and also that literally none of us should choose to do so.

I have a buddy in the mil who was closeted when the ban went into effect. He vacillated until the last possible second, then came out while it was still possible to do so, got on T, etc. He waited bc if things went badly he knew he might be in for a discharge.

He was so proud of being able to meet the physical fitness guidelines for men pre-T. Many masc trans men join the mil for its affirming qualities. Love him to death, but he says he enlisted to help make the world a better place and let's just say I do not agree w that.

Replying to @e_urq
like literally this is a bit triggery. So many feelings about this. I think the last time you could legit say the military "made the world a better place" is when it helped defeat Hitler.

I know. It made me want to scream, both at him for being so blind/naive and at the propaganda that made it possible for someone to believe this.
