Classic: Making a volcano "erupt" using vinegar + baking soda (or whatever) - has nothing to do with how volcanoes work. Drove a researcher colleague of mine up the wall.

Anyhoo, lots of "science" activities for pre-k are really just art, or "wow, look at that" activities - which are fine! And fun for kids and their adults! But if we feel good about them because we think we're doing science, we're really not. Ok end of rant

Yeah, that one is really egregious- it doesn't just fail to teach anything it gives a totally wrong impression.
